Parisian born haircare brand and salon, Myriam K, asked Formroom to reimagine their salon for a new location in the heart of Dubai.
The main aim for this project was to translate Myriam’s Paris salon concept into one fit for the unique criteria of the Dubai and UAE market – a concept fit for some of the most demanding and fashion forward clients in the world.
Formroom caried out extensive research to profile target consumers, as well as design analysis of competing Dubai salons in order to truly position Myriam K as a fresh and exciting market outlier. The space needed to be a show-stopping blend of social media heaven, multiple service areas, and an aesthetic that would break the mould of Dubai’s predictably ‘luxe’ aesthetic salon scene.
Approach.
Starting with the design requirements including a DJ booth, hair extension display wall, and a range of different treatment areas as well as a photobooth moment, we devised a floorplan that would cater to all these unique requirements in a one stop – shop beauty destination fit for the 2022 customer and beauty connoisseur. On top of this, it was important that the treatment areas were invisible from the front of the shop to protect the modesty preferences of some Myriam K customers.
Drawing from a challenger palette of pinks and greens in combination with a register of on trend materials, including terrazzo, mosaic tiling, illuminated arches and ribbing, Myriam K is a sensory playground of feminine fun. As we wanted to keep the design feeling light and fresh, we used screening made from opalescent ombre sheets to divide service areas. Neon light is trailed experimentally throughout the space alongside illuminated mirrors and minty fresh and baby pink pastel seating.

Results.
Myriam K is truly a space built for the future of beauty – not any one thing and definitely not a traditional ‘salon’ (We’ve never designed one that features an NFT bar before), the project is truly a safe space for empowerment, exploration, celebration and escape.
